THE 2016 “LOMONOSOV” CONFERENCE
An important event for students, post-graduate students and young scientists, the “Lomonosov” Conference is held annually in early April in Moscow State University. It was held for the 23rd time in 2016, the number of participants growing every year. This year the “Physics” section has set a new record in the number of applications – 474. The total amount of papers admitted to the “Physics” section is 422, all of them being distributed between 16 subsections. Most of the papers were submitted to the “Optics” and “Solid body physics” subsection, and on the day the conference was held these subsections were working in 6 rooms simultaneously.
Among the conference participants, 325 were from Moscow and the Moscow Oblast, 118 were from other Russian cities and regions, and 22 – from CIS countries and near abroad. 245 students, post-graduate students and young scientists of the MSU Faculty of Physics took part in the conference.
The participants gave talks at the Faculty of Physics on 14 April, 2016. Nikolai Nikolaevich Sisoyev opened the conference by making an introductory speech. Scientific Assistant Leonid Georgievich Prokhorov’s lecture on the discovery of gravitational waves was met with great interest. The subsections’ committees were made up of leading members of the physics faculty, and young scientists who had achieved outstanding results in their field.
